The program assists Marines and their families in achieving and sustaining personal financial readiness by providing personal financial education, training, counseling, and financial information and referral. A solid understanding of personal finances will build confidence in facing financial challenges, responsibilities and mission readiness.
KNOWLEDGE + SKILLS + ACCESS TO RESOURCES = FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Personal Financial Management Program (PFMP) supports active duty service members and their families, retirees and government employees by providing financial counseling, training and education. Confidential counseling sessions, unit training and various workshops are offered by the installation’s financial counselor. Topics of education and counseling include the basics of budgeting, saving, credit reports and credit scores. Learn about debt management and the intricacies of buying a home or vehicle, planning for retirement utilizing a 401(k), the Blended Retirement System (BRS), the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) and much more.

COUNSELING & TRAINING
The one-on-one budget counseling sessions requires the following items:
- List of all creditors (include all loans, lines of credit, and credit cards) with the following information:
- Balance due
- Due date
- Minimum monthly payment
- Annual percentage rate (APR)
- Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), other sources of income
- List of all bills, mortgage/rent, utilities, insurance, cell phone, Wi-Fi, streaming services, etc.
- Most recent bank statement and/or credit card statement
