You can contact your local Substance Assessment and Counseling Center (SACC) directly, or you may be referred by your chain of command or medical personnel. An initial assessment will determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Yes, confidentiality is a priority, but there are some limitations. In certain situations, such as when a command referral is involved or when safety is at risk, information may need to be shared with your chain of command.

During the assessment, a certified counselor will evaluate your substance misuse history, current behaviors, and overall well-being. The counselor will then recommend a treatment or counseling plan based on your individual needs.

Treatment options include individual counseling, group therapy, outpatient programs, early intervention, prevention workshops, and, if necessary, referrals to more intensive inpatient programs.

Counseling sessions focus on identifying triggers for substance misuse, developing coping mechanisms, and promoting healthier behaviors. Sessions may involve talking through personal challenges, goal setting, and learning about the risks of substance misuse.

Participation may be voluntary, but in certain cases, such as after a substance-related incident or command referral, it may be mandatory as part of a rehabilitation or disciplinary plan.

Yes, family members impacted by substance misuse can receive counseling support. Family counseling is often available to promote healthy communication and provide emotional support.

If you are concerned about someone, you can encourage them to seek help or contact the Substance Assessment and Counseling Center for advice on how to approach the situation. If the individual is a service member, a command referral might be necessary.

Relapse is a common part of recovery, and the program is designed to provide support during these times. If a relapse occurs, your treatment plan may be adjusted to better address your needs.

Voluntary participation in the program often allows for more confidentiality, and in most cases, your chain of command will not be notified unless there are safety concerns or mandatory reporting requirements.

The duration of treatment depends on individual needs. It could range from a few weeks of counseling to longer-term care. Follow-up and aftercare services may be recommended for ongoing support.

Yes, the program offers prevention and education workshops to help individuals understand the risks of substance misuse and make informed decisions to avoid high-risk behaviors.

Refusing a command-directed treatment plan may result in disciplinary actions, which could affect your military career. It is recommended to follow through with the prescribed treatment for your well-being and career.

Yes, the program often works in conjunction with other Marine and Family Programs to provide comprehensive support for related issues such as stress management, mental health, and family counseling.
